Hosting & Domain registration...
Domain registration:
First of all, your website needs to have a domain name. This is your website's address and has to be typed into the internet to get to your website. Having this on your advertising material makes your business look more professional.
You decide what you want to call your website and we then check if this name is available or if somebody else has already bought it. It would look something like this: www.yourbusinessname.com. After the . (dot) you would have an extension like .ie or .au or .com or .eu etc. There are many of these extensions available and they differ in cost. Please have a look at our hosting prices page for more information on pricing.
Something important to remember if you are in Ireland and want to use a .ie....
If you want a .ie domain you must have your company or RBN number. In other words, your business should be registered. You can do that here: www.cro.ie Otherwise, you can have another extension like .com or .eu or .co.uk. Having a .ie is also usually more expensive.
Hosting:
Your website needs a space on the internet to live on. This is done on huge computers like this one here. It is called hosting and you pay this every month or once off for a year or however long you want to. A good way to look at this is that it is your website's rent every month. So.. if somebody types your domain name in, it accesses the server where your website is hosted and brings it up for your potential clients to see. We usually cover this in the cost of the website but also have this service available if you already have a website and only need a space for it to live. Have a look at our hosting prices for a better idea of how the money side of things work.
